I spent St. Patrick’s Day celebrating the birthday of one of my best friends (whom I will call St. Andrew in his honor in this post) along with our homies Jeff, Paige, Travis, Nick, Ryan, Josh, and the other 20 people I can’t remember today…

In honor of his “Hangover” episode last night I thought I’d share the concert we attended since he didn’t remember much of last night…remember? (And yes, tigers love cinnamon… they hate pepper).

The night did begin with our graced presence at a Andy Frasco (and the missing U.N. —Andy’s band is called the U.N. but they were not present) concert… They were preparing for SXSW and Andy was to meet them today.

Who is Andy Frasco? Well, according to Frasco’s website, “Andy Frasco, a twenty-two blues/jazz musician hailing from the San Fernando Valley in Southern California, is nothing short of an enigma. Influenced by Damien Rice, Sam Cooke, Van Morrison and Tom Waits, Frasco’s style is as uninhibited as those artists who inspire him. Within the past two years alone, Frasco has trekked over 90,000 miles, performed over 500 shows, and spanned the country at least six times. Frasco’s journey, however, is just beginning. This revolutionary is on a mission to alter the music business as we know it.” I couldn’t agree more.

His show was 3 hours of full entertainment…blues and soul, playful and cool, Frasco had the rhythm and left the audience feeling whole…especially considering he was playing with a group of local musicians rather than his true band (he literally looked like a jam band conductor at multiple moments when pointing at instruments and directing a trombone to join in rather than the usual saxophone). I enjoyed myself, donated to the cause, and expect to see him in the “sold out” world sometime soon. No hating…I’d rather see Frasco sell out and make dollar dollar bills ya’ll rather than a 16 year old kid with a bad haircut (yes, Andy’s hair is much better)…
